Digitalization, sustainability: the maritime industry is undergoing ever more dynamic change, which requires a willingness to innovate. "Deutsche Seeschifffahrt" reflects this development and picks up on current topics - in well-researched and aesthetically designed magazine stories.
The publishing German Shipowners’ Association (VDR) currently has around 150 members - from small and medium-sized family businesses to major global players with hundreds of ships and several thousand employees, such as Bernhard Schulte (BSM), Hapag-Lloyd and Oldendorff Carriers. Significant market share: Deutsche Reeder is one of the most important shipping locations in the world. The fleet is currently ranked 7th globally, with Germany even occupying the top spot in container shipping. The industry has consolidated and is optimistic about the future.
The VDR is a leading association of the German economy. It was founded in 1907 by the regional shipowners' associations in order to enable a common and uniform representation of interests. Today, the VDR no longer represents the German shipping industry in Berlin and Bonn alone, but also in Brussels, London, Geneva and at a global level. As an employers' association, it also conducts collective bargaining and social partner negotiations.
