The business of transition: How to play and who pays?

Cutting carbon pollution is now central to strategy in virtually all parts of shipping. Customers demand it, financiers incentivize it, and employees feel good about it.

Yet complex hurdles remain. Technology is not quite ready, and much of the fuel is not yet available, which leaves the investment case incomplete, despite the best shipping markets since the financial crisis.

TradeWinds brings together some of the leading thinkers and players to reflect on their own experiences in managing fleets old and new, how expectations and strategies are shifting, and how to take the next steps in delivering the ultimate goal of zero carbon shipping.

The Tradewinds Shipowners Forum will be hosted alongside the leading international maritime trade fair SMM at Hamburg. The container shipping sector remains a key part of German maritime and has been enjoying a recent boom. Across two consecutive sessions, we will debate how industry leaders are approaching sustainable shipping and decarbonisation as well as the outlook for the container industry.

The event is comprised of key sessions:

Leader Spotlights

Session One: From good intentions to action: Implementing strategy to deliver results

Session Two: Can the container boom build a new sustainable shipping business?
