Editor, Offshore Support Journal
David Foxwell has edited and contributed to numerous magazines over the past 25 years. A graduate of Southampton University he was managing editor of Naval Forces, naval editor of IHS Jane’s International Defence Review, editor of Maritime Defence and Port Engineering Management. He was also editor of Boating Business for three years, editor of RMM’s Norwegian Solutions magazine, Co-Editor of Military Simulation & Training, Contributing Editor of Fairplay Newbuildings and Fairplay Solutions, and contributed regularly to several defence and naval publications including Military Technology, NATO’s 16 Nations, Tecnologia Militar and Unmanned Vehicles.
He has also been a regular contributor to The Naval Architect, Ship & Boat International, Fairplay, Fairplay Solutions, IHS Maritime Technology, Safety at Sea International, Port Development International, Port Strategy, Dredging & Port Construction, International Boat Industry, Boating Industry International and Maritime Journal, among others. He has also written for Offshore Engineer,The Engineer and Lloyd’s List, and is editor of Clarkson Research Services Limited’s newsletters Offshore Shipping Online and Dredging News Online. He also writes about naval vessels and technology and is editor of RINA's Warship Technology.
David has been editing Offshore Support Journal for more than a decade. As well as overseeing the growth in the size of the journal and its content, he has also introduced supplements covering topics such as offshore wind, Arctic and ice class vessels, an ‘Industry Leaders’ supplement, the ‘OSJ Guide to OSV Shipbuilders’ and OSJ ‘Guide to Dynamic Positioning,’ in addition to an annual review issue of the magazine.
Since he became editor, Offshore Support Journal has moved from being a quarterly publication to a bimonthly and is now a monthly publication. He continues to play a significant part in the annual Offshore Support Journal conference and awards, and in RMM’s European Dynamic Positioning conference. Most recently, he founded and now edits another new publication, Offshore Wind Journal for Riviera Maritime Media. He is married with three children and lives in Surrey.
